Casino Gambling - How to Win When Lady Luck is On Your Side and How to Limit Your Losses When She is Not by Elliott "Steve" Stephenson

A guide to the gaming propositions offered by casinos in the United States and abroad. It reports the house percentage in each game and the player's probable chance of increasing a stake before losing it.

About the book

This new book contains a discussion of all the gaming propositions offered by the Casinos in the United States and in many other countries. In addition, it reports the actual House Percentage enjoyed by the Casinos in each game and then a significant step beyond and presents detailed information concerning the Gambler's probable chance of substantially increasing his or her stake in each game before losing it to the Casino.

Many Gamblers are totally unaware of the facts that effect their chances of winning in the Casinos, facts that are reported in this book. Those facts are fully substantiated by mathematics, by many thousands of games or by millions of computer simulated games.

The book clearly reveals facts concerning the relatively high odds against the Player at any Casino game when that Player makes a long series of equal or near equal wagers. Most Gamblers do exactly that and will spend hours at the Blackjack, Roulette or Craps tables making the same bet over and over again. Gamblers who play the slot machines of all types, where Money Management is impossible to practice, face the identical problem.

The management of his or her Stake by the Player at any Casino gaming proposition is an important factor in determining the outcome of the venture. Several procedures that can be followed are described and discussed in Chapter Four.

Unlike most books, this work presents simple procedures for calculating the House Percentage applicable to any betting proposition, including those available at the ordinary Carnival or County Fair. It does not have page after page of how each game is played, procedures that are obvious to any potential Player when observing a few plays of the game. Instead, it informs the Reader of the key actions to take and the probability that those actions will results in a gain or loss for the Player.

And, finally, when considered from the standpoint of the Gambler's potential probability of winning any substantial amount from the Casino, the book reveals that such an outcome is somewhat remote. The fact that the Player's Luck is of critical importance in determining the outcome of any gambling session is stressed. It thus will tend to discourage excessive play by those who cannot afford to suffer considerable losses to the Casinos; will help reduce the number of Compulsive Gamblers; and will reveal that Casino Gambling should be considered as "Adult Entertainment" for which the participant should expect to pay.

About the author

Elliott "Steve" Stephenson has been interested in gambling ever since his experiences during World War II, playing both Poker and Craps with his associates in the Army. Although this is his first book on the subject, he has presented slide talks discussing gambling and its ramifications at numerous service clubs and other organizations for more than twenty years. He believes that Casino Gambling can be a pleasant and interesting form of "Adult Entertainment" if done in moderation and within personal budget limitations, but only after one has learned the basics related to the Casino gaming propositions being played. He is also confident that this book will give both the novice and the practiced gambler useful information not previously known.

Steve is an eighty-two year old retired Consulting Structural and Fire Protection Engineer, formerly licensed to practice in several states, now living in Sun City West, Arizona. Since his graduation from the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, he has served as the Superintendent of Building for the City of Pasadena; as Chief Structural Engineer for the American Iron and Steel Institute in New York City; and as a practicing Structural and Fire Protection Engineer in both California and Arizona.
