Out of the Darkness by Ralph Morales Jr.
The story of Dr. Jon Edgar Lindstrom, born with Klinefelter Syndrome, who at the height of success and a terminal diagnosis sets out to face his hidden past.
About the book
Dr. Jon Edgar Lindstrom, a tall, dark and handsome man, was at the pinnacle of personal and professional success when his perfect world abruptly unraveled within a matter of months. Forced into early retirement with a medical death sentence, he resolved to disentomb and rectify his secret past.
Jon was born with Klinefelter Syndrome which left him asexual, while exhibiting both male and female physical features and visceral demeanor which caused havoc in all aspects of his life. Following a brutal gang-rape, to protect himself, he befriended a tough, streetwise hoodlum, who caused interminable conflicts between Jon and his religious and socially correct family.
A cosmetic breast-reduction surgery only aggravated the situation. Later diagnosed with a muscle-wasting disease and abandoned by everyone except his overprotective mother, Jon, with a six-foot frame, decided to externally portray his male-self while concealing his female-self, now named Jonny. These changes caused new frustrations, but Jon began dating women and eventually married a breathtaking beauty queen, named Sally. His concealed gender-duality and asexuality caused severe contention and confusion as he struggled to satisfy the needs of his sexually mature wife, while Jonny languished for a male friend.
In a frantic attempt to save his faltering marriage, Jon gradually disclosed his secret life to Sally. In love and compassion, Jon and Sally worked out a lifestyle whereupon all the participants in their marriage could live together without the contrariety of the past. Truth and forgiveness led Jon out of the darkness and into the light of wholeness.
