Kelley's Best Day by Jean Murr

A rhyming story told by Kelley, a Border Collie, who recalls hoping to be chosen from a litter and winning over a new family.

About the book

Kelley's Best Day is a short and sweet glimpse into the life of our dog Kelley, the Border Collie. This story was written from Kelley's point of view and is comical and heartwarming for the child as well as the reader. The rhythm, rhyme and simple story will make this book a family favorite.

Have you ever wondered whether a dog thinks and responds to situations as a human does? Kelley does; and shares how she dreamed of being picked from a litter of puppies and became part of a family. She was almost overlooked until she decided to get the people's attention by putting on an irresistible show and winning the hearts of her new family. Kelley welcomes her readers into her life as she introduces herself, her family and friends. Kelley is special in many ways, from her high flying frisbee exhibitions to her warm and touching moments, where she is thankful for being chosen and belonging to this wonderful family. Her feelings on dog handling and care became the "doggie do's and don'ts" page, to help readers understand how dogs think and respond to different situations.

Kelley is a remarkable dog and family member, and her many stories are worth sharing.

About the author

Jean grew up in Madison, Wisconsin - in her opinion, the perfect place to be raised. She was taught to work hard and appreciate what she was given, and to use her imagination and make her own fun. Many of her dreams as a child, came true as an adult. She moved on to other parts of the country shortly after school and has continued to travel, gaining friends and new experiences along the way. Her love for nature and animals has lead her down some interesting paths including landscape designing in the Southwest, as well as helping her husband, Jerry, train thoroughbred racehorses. Her love of children and desire to share her life lesson's and adventures has led her to writing and illustrating children's books.

Jean currently divides her time between Santa Fe, New Mexico and the mountains of Colorado. She has two delightful daughters, Joy and Jill who reside in Texas. Her life long dream and goal is to own and operate a bed and breakfast and fill it with her friends. Her interests include meeting people, traveling, painting, fishing, cooking, golfing, diving, working with horses, gardening, reading and spending time with her best friends, her family and "Kelley," the Border Collie.
