The Hohmann Transfer by Sylvester
A woman launched into orbit after hurried training survives a shuttle breach that kills the crew, and must outthink those who planned for the mission to fail.
About the book
Hurriedly trained, she is launched into orbit, not knowing her boss's death was part of an elaborate plan to ensure that the Natasha project fails.
When out on the remote arm, the shuttle experiences a "breach" killing everyone aboard but her, she concludes. NASA officials quickly determine that no one could have survived the explosive decompression--and even if anyone had, they reasoned, neither they nor the Russians could pull off a rescue mission before any possible survivor's life support was depleted.
She is alone, the shuttle is destroyed, and no one even knows she is alive.
She must think fast or die...
