In the Area of Gray by Joe Power
A comic look at the Irish government sector in Ireland and New York, where perception counts for more than results and ego drives the mayhem.
About the book
The tale is set in the Irish government sector in Ireland and New York: a sector that operates on two levels: one, smooth and harmonious -- Ireland, Inc. at its best; the other, below the surface, where all hell breaks loose through campaigns of wickedness and stealth. It is a world in which perception is more important than achievement, and where power, sex and ego-driven mayhem arise daily in a battle arena known as The Area of Gray, breeding expedient survivors or vanquished idealists.
About the author
Following a career in the Irish government sector in the U.S., rising to senior representative level, Dublin-born author, Joe Power, took early retirement in 1992 to do devote his time to consulting and writing. Power also served as New York Chairman for an Irish political fundraising organization in the U.S. Over the years, he was fortunate to observe and interact with a wide variety of unusual characters. His novel, In the Area of Gray, takes a comical look at this political/corporate sub-culture, and the colorful characters that occupy it.
