Until I Say Goodbye by John R. Krismer

In a small border town, a clique of corrupt physicians controls both hospitals. When the administrator and nursing director are murdered, the Sisters of St. Matthew turn to Bill Warner for help.

About the book

Until I Say Goodbye, describes a small border town where a corrupt group of physicians have banned together so they can make big bucks off of the sick and disabled. Many of these physicians have entered this country by agreeing to practice medicine in this remote location, where standards are seldom enforced and the Hippocratic Oath is completely disregarded.

The Sister's of St. Matthew, are about to lose their largest hospital to this well organized group of physicians, as Doctor Lanin, their leader, also serves as Chairman of the Board at the hospital. His clique controls both hospitals in this small town by boycotting one or the other, whenever they refuse to cooperate with his lucrative agenda.

After the Administrator and the Nursing Director are tragically murdered, the Sisters seek Bill Warner's help. this proves to be a big mistake for Bill, as his wife and daughter, the Provincialate Director, and the hospital consultant are selectively murdered. Eventually the National Institute of Health, The FBI, and Bill's new Nursing Director, Mary Swanson, all help to gather evidence that will convict the murderers. As Bill drives to Colorado, he realizes he's being followed, and pulls off the road near a treacherous cliff. As he suddenly turns on his headlights, the startled driver turns sharply so that two tires slip over the edge of the cliff. As Bill realizes Lanin's hired gun is going to shoot him, he throws his weight into the partially opened door, forcing the car to slip off the cliff, as Lanin scrambles to safety. In the ensuing struggle, Lanin falls to his death. As Bill keeps their demise his secret, the FBI eventually decides they've fled the country.
