People Wanting Children by Kaminski
Tom and June, a couple who choose marriage without clergy, want to have a baby, while the novel's own author struggles to make a book, and the two efforts keep misunderstanding each other.
About the book
People can be almost as misguided about making art as they can be about making babies. Again, they mistake the performance for the purpose, which is to evade madness.
Our heroes, Tom and June, want to make babies. Our author wants to make a novel. These characters together with this author make another of those odd couples that seem always to be misunderstanding each other. Without benefit of clergy, but with the self-conscious spiritual earnestness of their generation, Tom and June have chose to make a marriage. the poor author is trapped in his struggle to make a big deal out of small errors. He talks of Sin and Tom and June can only wonder, "What is he talking about?"
