Mystic Red -- Return of the Spirit Guide by Jean Neff Guthrie
Red Donovan spoke to a spirit guide as a small child, sent him away at her parents' insistence, and as a teenager struggles with divorce and a move to Pittsburgh.
About the book
From the Oracle at Delphi to Joan of Arc to Edgar Cayce, cultures have been fascinated by those who receive messages from the Divine. Mystic Red -- Return of the Spirit Guide brings into reality the daily communications that we could have with our spirit guides at any point in our lives.
Red Donovan talks to her spirit guide, Paul, for the first three years of her life. He appears to her as an eleven-year-old Dutch boy dressed in white clothes. When Red's parents insist that Paul isn't real, she tells him to go away.
As Red matures to a teenager, she is obsessed with understanding love. Her parents fight constantly, which frustrates and confuses her. She wishes they'd act like the characters in her favorite romance novels. When her parents finally divorce, Red blames herself. Then she rebels as her father moves them to Pittsburgh, 350 miles from her mom and friends in Philadelphia.
Philip Donovan, Red's father, is the Donald Trump of Philadelphia. After he pushes away his wife, Dorothy, he turns to Red for love and support. But Red is angry at him over the divorce and relocation to Pittsburgh.
The beautiful Dorothy Howell Donovan is groomed by her trailer-trash parents to be an obedient and submissive wife. After her divorce, Paul encourages Dorothy to find her passion and live her own life. She quickly gets her act together and follows her dream of teaching.
Spirit guide Paul appears to Red again after she relocates to Pittsburgh and misses her friends. Although he looks like the same eleven-year-old Dutch boy in white clothes, Red doesn't recognize him as her spirit guide. Paul uses basketball, Red's favorite sport, to teach her how to connect with the heart. He tells Red to think, feel, know -- believe it so. When Red opens to Paul's messages, she finally understands and accepts unconditional love. She starts to receive the healing she has sought for years.
Messages come to people everyday from their spirit guides. Often, they are unheard or ignored. When people understand the loving intent of spirit guides, they open to possibilities beyond their wildest imagination. Their childhood wounds are healed, and they finally learn to live without fear. Then they experience life as originally intended, with unconditional love and harmonious relationships.
