THE INSIDER THIEF by Griffith
San Francisco investment banker Eric Knight sees his insider-trading network come apart as the Securities and Exchange Commission closes in and his marriage ends.
About the book
Eric Knight, San Francisco investment banker, finds his world crashing just as he is on the verge of becoming a multi-millionaire through illegal insider stock trading. He and his network, three other white collar criminals, succeed in accumulating huge sums of money until an informer tips off the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Forces against Eric quietly build. The young, good-looking investment banker is in divorce proceedings with his actress wife, Connie. Eric discovers his wife is a closet lesbian. In his blind ambition for wealth, Eric handles Connie badly. She seeks revenge. It is at this time that Eric and Alysia meet and fall in love. Alysia has no knowledge of his illegal dealing. Eric, for the first time, finds someone more important than his pursuit of wealth. It changes him.
Dresdena, an exotic beauty, lawyer and one of the network partners, is hopelessly paranoid. She has murdered her stepfather, then murders a wealthy businessman, because both violated her sexually. She is never a suspect. Dresdena fantasizes Eric will turn traitor on the network. She enters a lesbian relationship with Connie to probe about Eric, then kills Connie, faked as death by suicide.
Dresdena attempts to murder Eric and loses her life. He is accused of her murder. In despair, Alysia gives up on Eric. He must still face charges by the SEC. Eric pledges his love for Alysia, swears to abandon his blind quest for wealth. They are reconciled and will find a new life in marriage.
